The Central American Corporation for Air Navigation Services (COCESNA) is an international regional integration organization, non-profit and public service, created on February 26, 1960. Its mission is to guarantee safety, efficiency, and continuity of air navigation services in the airspaces of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.

COCESNA is responsible for air traffic management, aeronautical telecommunications, and radio aid systems, contributing to the development and modernization of the aeronautical sector in the region.

The company developed a system called SIARev using GeneXus and WorkWithPlus. We spoke with Julio Aguirre, Software Engineer at COCESNA, who shared all the details of the application. "SIARev is a specialized system suite designed for civil aviation authorities, optimizing the management and automation of key processes to ensure compliance with critical points established by ICAO."

Julio explained to us that the modular structure of the application "allows efficient and integrated administration of various areas, including: Operational Surveillance; Management of aircraft fleet, their certificates and insurance policy control; Administration of aeronautical service provider organizations, such as schools, workshops, and operators; Management of aeronautical personnel licenses; Evaluation of theoretical and practical examinations; Medical records and issuance of medical certificates; Drone management, among others."

The focus of this project was also on digitalizing and modernizing the system. Therefore, SIARev was created to strengthen operational safety, streamline regulatory procedures, and improve the traceability of aeronautical information. To achieve all these objectives, the incorporation of WorkWithPlus in the development was practically crucial.

They even managed to incorporate Artificial Intelligence into the system to make it even more productive for its users. According to Julio, "the incorporation of AI with WorkWithPlus allowed us to quickly take advantage of the full potential of artificial intelligence, making it easier for the end user to carry out their daily activities, optimizing the obtaining of information and guaranteeing secure access to confidential data according to the roles established by the user".

The experience and optimization for the application's users were of utmost importance, as they are the ones who will use it daily. Usability had to be simple, efficient, and take full advantage of all capabilities. "The implementation of Artificial Intelligence with the Assistant was deployed in all 6 States. An option was implemented to analyze queries by user. Training sessions have been conducted, and a feature is being created to encourage users to use the assistant more frequently," Julio tells us.
