Revising the past, learning the future: my incredible week in Japan

On my first day in Tokyo, while visiting the iconic Tokyo Tower, I came across a simple yet powerful phrase: “Revising the past, learning the future”. Without realizing it, those words would become the perfect summary of everything I experienced during this intense and rewarding week in Japan.

Japan has always been one of the strongest and most active communities for WorkWithPlus. We are proud to see how our tools help teams in Japan tackle some of the most challenging and innovative projects, while maintaining the quality and flexibility that define us.

During this visit, I had the chance to connect more deeply with our ecosystem in Japan. We visited key clients — NTT Comware, ISOL, JBCC, Application Assist, and Q'sfix — to better understand their current needs, share ideas, and explore how we can continue supporting their growth with GeneXus and WorkWithPlus.

A common topic throughout these meetings was artificial intelligence — not only in terms of functionality, but as a strategic enabler for the future. We discussed how AI is already reshaping workflows, and the many opportunities it opens for efficiency, insight and value creation across industries.

I also hosted three technical sessions for the wider community, covering our latest news and roadmap, our AI features, and how WorkWithPlus Flexibility can help boost development productivity up to four times while giving teams the freedom to adapt and create as they wish.

One of the highlights of the week was our exclusive Partners Event. Together with Armin Bachmann, Fabian Bonilla and the GeneXus Japan team, we shared updates, success stories and best practices, and closed with an open Q&A session that sparked great ideas and valuable feedback. On a personal note, I also had the pleasure of meeting the very first WorkWithPlus user in Japan, a special moment that made this event even more meaningful. Afterward, we had the chance to continue the conversations more informally over dinner, building even stronger ties with our partners.

None of this would have been possible without the outstanding support and hospitality of the GeneXus Japan team. They made sure every detail was covered: client meetings, webinars, the event for partners, local experiences and even a farewell celebration that made us feel truly welcome.

This trip reminded me once again of what WorkWithPlus stands for: honoring what we have built so far, listening carefully to our users and partners, and constantly reinventing ourselves to help our community go further, with the design, productivity and flexibility they expect from us.

I return home inspired, grateful and convinced that while technology drives us forward, it is trust, shared purpose and genuine relationships that truly make the difference. Let’s keep revising the past and learning, and building, the future, together.
